Outcome(s)

Primary OutcomeBacterial counts in oropharyngeal fluid and retained fluid on the cuff before administration and 1, 2, 3, and 6 hours after administration
Secondary Outcome1. Antimicrobial drug concentrations in oropharyngeal fluid and supra-cuff fluid before administration and 1, 2, 3, and 6 hours after administration 2. Development of postoperative pneumonia 3. Safety of antimicrobial pharmacy administration

Include criteria1. Oral surgery patients who are managed under intubation by postoperative tracheotomy at Nagasaki University Hospital Oral Surgery or Hiroshima University Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery between the date of jRCT publication and December 28, 2023. 2. Patients who can personally provide written consent at their own free will after being receiving a thorough explanation of the study and fully understanding their participation in the study.
Exclude criteriaAny of the following patients will be excluded: 1. Patients with past history of allergy for the tetracycline hydrochloride and ampicillin sodium sulbactam sodium 2. Partients who are judged to be inappropriate to participate the study by the principal or cooperative doctors.
