Effect of resistance training on skeletal muscle quality and brain function for patients with knee osteoarthritis

Intervention(s)Patients undergo twice per week resistance training programme for a twelve-week. Resistance training of two types are applied; Power training (high speed) and conventional training (low speed). These interventions are performed on the quadriceps with a weight.

Key inclusion & exclusion criteria

Age minimum>= 50age old
Age maximumNot applicable
GenderFemale
Include criteriaWoman diagnosed with knee OA based on X-ray findings by a doctor Patients who have the ability to walk without assistive devices
Exclude criteriaPatients with rheumatoid arthritis, spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee. Patients with a surgical or fracture history for lower limbs. Patients with cardiovascular disorders that significantly affect gait function. Patients with a history for mental and neurological disorders. Patients who have contraindications for MRI measurement.
