Intervention(s) | We believe that the use of pharyngeal packing can reduce the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in patients who have not undergone preoperative oral functional management in Group B, as they are presumed to have a higher bacterial load in the oral cavity |

Primary Outcome | Main diagnosis, gender, age, medical history, oral condition, duration of endotracheal intubation, presence of IVAC/VAP occurrences, and the date of IVAC/VAP occurrences if applicable. |

Include criteria | At Hyogo Medical University Hospital, the study targets patients admitted to the ICU and undergoing endotracheal intubation. The study includes patients who have provided consent through a consent form. Regarding the use of oropharyngeal packing, random allocation will be performed for Group B, which does not undergo preoperative oral function management, without considering age or gender. The target age group is adults. |
Exclude criteria | Surgical patients with pharyngeal procedures will be excluded, and the study will target patients who do not exhibit significant deterioration in their condition after surgery and are not susceptible to excessive bleeding. |
