A Study of Buzzy mini for the Suppression of Propofol Vascular Pain

Intervention(s)During preoxygenation at the induction of general anesthesia, two Buzzy mini are placed 2-3 cm centrally in the peripheral venous tract for 3 minutes to provide cooling and vibration from approximately the needle entry point to the elbow.

Outcome(s)

Primary OutcomeMedian analgesia score (physical and verbal), incidence of vascular pain and incidence of severe vascular pain
Secondary OutcomeBlood pressure (systolic, diastolic, mean) and pulse rate up to the start of propofol administration (baseline) and immediately after sleep

Key inclusion & exclusion criteria

Age minimum>= 10age old
Age maximum< 18age old
GenderBoth
Include criteriaStandby surgical patients between 10 and 18 years of age scheduled for induction of anesthesia with intravenous propofol and for whom no premedication has been prescribed.
Exclude criteriaPeripheral venous tracts placed from the ward are placed outside the forearm, patients who cannot use propofol (e.g., lecithin allergy), patients with an American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Score (ASA-PS) of 3 or higher (patients with complications that make daily living difficult), patients with cold urticaria, patients with cold urticaria for any reason and their family members refuse
