Intervention(s)

Ingested ingredients: MCT oil
Dosage: Start with 6g at a time and take 30-36g / day (10-12g / meal) daily.
Intake period: 3 months
Nutritional guidance and intake situation, the confirmation of the symptoms before the start, done in 2, 4, 8, 12 weeks.
At the time of nutritional guidance, check the diary that describes the timing, amount, symptoms and concerns of ingestion.

Outcome(s)

• Primary Outcome: Improvement of albumin level, prealbumin level, and retinol-binding protein by MCT diet

Secondary Outcome

Evaluation of liver function (Child-Pugh score, ALBI-grade)
Evaluation of amino acid balance (Fischer ratio)
Evaluation of lipid composition
Evaluation of muscle mass
Evaluation of body composition

Key inclusion & exclusion criteria

• Age minimum: >= 20age old
• Age maximum: Not applicable
• Gender: Both

Include criteria

1) Patients with liver cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma who are visiting the Department of Gastroenterology, Showa University Hospital.
2) Patients with albumin 4.0 mg / dL or less.
3) Patients who are 20 years of age or older at the time of obtaining consent.
4) Patients who have given written consent to participate in this study.

Exclude criteria

1) Patients with uncontrolled hepatic encephalopathy.
2) Patients who require ascites puncture (twice or more a month).
3) Decompensated cirrhosis in patients with T-Bil of 3 or higher or in Child-Pugh classification grade C.
4) Patients who are judged to be ineligible by the judgment of the research doctor.
