Research of abdominal breathing technique
Basic Information
Recruitment status | Complete |
---|---|
Health condition(s) or Problem(s) studied | Healthy adults.Effects of abdominal breathing on autonomic nervous activity and hormonal responses. |
Date of first enrollment | 17/06/2024 |
Target sample size | 30 |
Countries of recruitment | |
Study type | Interventional |
Intervention(s) | This study will intervene with low-intensity exercise loading with abdominal breathing exercises in healthy subjects. The abdominal breathing technique used in this study will instruct the subject to extend the abdomen 360 degrees in a supine and knee flexed position. Specifically, the abdomen is expanded back and forth in the sagittal plane and side to side in the forehead plane during inspiration. Exhalation is through the mouth and should be relaxed without exertion. Inhalation should be through the nose, which facilitates abdominal breathing. The rhythm is 4 seconds of inhalation followed by 8 seconds of exhalation. These abdominal breathing exercises are performed for 20 minutes to determine the short-term changes that occur before and after the intervention. They will also be instructed to work on them upon waking for 5 minutes once a day for the next 2 weeks, and the same measurements will be taken on the last day to determine the changes that occur in the medium term. |
Outcome(s)
Primary Outcome | Autonomic nervous system(LF/HF, TP, LF, HF) hormone(Cortisol, Oxytocin, s-IgA, Chromogranin A) |
---|---|
Secondary Outcome | Abdominal circumference(mm) |
