Safety of dexamethasone suppression test for adrenal masses

Outcome(s)

Primary OutcomeAfter drawing blood at rest at 23:00 midnight, patients take 1 to 2 dexamethasone 0.5 mg tablets. Fasting resting blood samples will be taken at 6-7 a.m. the next morning, and blood pressure on the morning of dexamethasone administration will be compared with that on the morning of the next day. In addition to adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol as originally evaluated in the 1 mg dexamethasone study, blood counts and biochemical tests (blood catecholamine, AST, ALT, ALP, gamma GTP, NT-proBNP, CPK, BUN, Cre, Na, K, Cl) will be taken.

Include criteriaPatients admitted to our hospital for the examination of adrenal masses and need to rule out cortisol excess production
Exclude criteriaPatients on oral steroid therapy.
