Effects of Involvement of Male Counterparts in Menstrual Hygiene Management of Women and Adolescent Girls with Disabilities in Selected Sub-districts of Bangladesh: A Quasi-Experimental Study

Intervention(s)Intervention group received ten months health education on menstrual hygiene management. Total 320 one on one home visit and sixteen courtyard sessions conducted. Intervention group also received ten months health education on role of male counterparts on menstrual hygiene management. Control group received regular family planning services provided by government of Bangladesh.

Outcome(s)

Primary OutcomeTo assess the change in menstrual practice needs among women and adolescent girls with disabilities in the intervention group.
Secondary OutcomeTo assess the change in perceived social support and perceived stress among the study participants.

Exclude criteriaThe following exclusion criteria applied to female participants and their male counterparts in this study, including those who were pregnant, intellectually or mentally disabled, suffering from a terminal illness, and incapable of giving informed consent or assent
