Effect of differences in verbal instructions in sit-to-stand movement for stroke patients
Basic Information
Recruitment status | Pending |
---|---|
Health condition(s) or Problem(s) studied | stroke |
Date of first enrollment | 02/09/2021 |
Target sample size | 20 |
Countries of recruitment | |
Study type | Interventional |
Intervention(s) | procedure of experiment General information and medical information of the participants (details will be described later) is obtained from the interview and the medical recordRe.we check the blood pressure whether it is within the range the doctor ordered or not before experiments. If the blood pressure is no problem, the participants take two times 30-seconds chair stand test (CS-30) with different verbal instructions.CS-30 is the evaluation of sit-to-stand ability that counts the number of times participants stand up in a chair as much as possible for 30 seconds. The verbal instruction is "Please stand up as much as possible for 30 seconds" (control condition) and "Please stand up with bowing as much as possible for 30 seconds." (bowing conditions), and the participants take two conditions in succession.the each conditions is randomized by lottery. Before taking the CS-30 ,the participants practice about 5 times standing up to confirm whether they understands the verbal instructions correctly, and take a break, start the CS-30 each conditions. After the first CS-30, the participants take a sufficient break, and we check their fatigues, and If they relieve from the fatigues, the second CS-30 is started.sitting height is adjusted putting a duckboard on the 30 cm or 40 cm stand so that the hip, knee, and ankle joints are about 90 degrees, when the participants is sitting. After the CS-30 ,researcher check the blood pressure does not exceed the doctor's orders. And, If exceed the blood pressure , researcher tell it for nurse and doctor immediately. |
